ABOUT US

IGNITE THE FIRE WITHIN

At CrossFit Firewall, we pride ourselves on enhancing not only our members’ physical abilities but mental capabilities as well. We strive to push our athletes to be the best they can be, both in and out of the gym. Our goal is to form an incredibly supportive community that is there to back up one another every step of the journey to a healthier life.

We want our members to think of us as more than a gym – as a family. We will make the one hour of the day you spend with us be the best hour of your day! The Firewall programming is built to encompass every aspect of fitness to fully enhance not only our members’ physical capacity, but their lifestyles as well. We want to make you fire proof!

WHAT IS CROSSFIT?

“Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise, but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, and presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc., hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.”

– Coach Greg Glassman, CrossFit Founder and CEO

WHAT IT MEANS TO US

To many people, CrossFit isn’t just a workout routine. For most who join CrossFit, it becomes a way of life. At CrossFit Firewall, CrossFit is a way of life. A life that brings people together from all different backgrounds to create a community that is comprised of strong, like-minded people who push each other towards a common goal: being the best person they can be. The positive environment at CrossFit Firewall seeks to bring the best out in our members. We seek to push our members to their limits every day and to constantly have our members improve themselves inside the gym to enhance their lives outside of the gym. CrossFit means something a little different to everyone who does it. To some it’s a hobby, to some a sport and of course to many, a means to get back in the shape you once were in from your teenage years. To us, CrossFit gives everyone the ability to help make whatever goals you have into a reality!

I recently graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Finance as well as a minor in Economics. I was first introduced to CrossFit my senior year of high school. I planned on using it as a way to get in shape for basketball tryouts. When tryouts came around, I found myself excelling in all the conditioning drills, which I had not done the previous year, after only 3 months of CrossFit. It was then I realized this stuff really worked! Once basketball season ended, I took up CrossFit as my main sport and haven’t looked back since. I have been coaching since October 2012 at both a CrossFit gym at home and at school. Over the years, the changes I’ve seen in people’s health, spirit, energy, and physical appearance have been nothing short of miracles. CrossFit is the true fountain of youth, and I hope to share their methodologies with as many people as possible. I can’t imagine where I would be without CrossFit, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

I am a recent graduate of Springfield College with a degree in Applied Exercise Science. At Springfield College, I wrestled my freshmen year and then founded Springfield College CrossFit my sophomore year which was an on campus CrossFit club that included 50+ students each semester. The club would meet 7 days every week and I dedicated my personal time to helping the students and faculty of Springfield College to become all around more healthier and stronger individuals. My final semester I received a position at Purdue University to fulfill my 950 hour internship working along side the sports performance team with Purdue’s Football, Women’s Volleyball and Mens Wrestling teams. It was an amazing and humbling experience to work with Division I athletes and the sports performance coaches that train them but I realized my true calling is working in the private sector in the CrossFit community.
